Unlike shaving or depilatory creams that remove hair only at the surface, waxing removes hair at the root. There is no razor burn, unsightly bumps, or irritating stubble the very next day. With continuous waxing (approximately every 4-6 weeks) your hair will grow softer and more sparse, leaving your skin smoother and hair-free for weeks!

Before Your Brazilian Wax

Hair must be at least ¼ inch long for fine hair and coarse hair should be at least ½ inch long. If you’ve been shaving, wait two weeks for the hair to grow in. The wax will have nothing to grab on to if the hair is too short. You may take Ibuprofen 30 minutes before you come in. This reduces inflammation and takes the edge off. Exfoliate the area getting waxed to remove dead skin cells and trapped, ingrown hairs. A loofah or mild scrub will work effectively for this.

Maintaining Your Brazilian Wax

Starting three days after your visit, make sure you exfoliate and moisturize the entire area where hair was removed. Continue to do this daily as this will help to prevent ingrown hairs with the complimentary exfoliating glove as our gift to you. Not much to it!

Helpful Hints

What kind of wax does BudaTful Relax-n-Wax use for the bikini area?

BudaTful Relax-n-Wax uses only hard, strip-less wax for the bikini/Brazilian area. Hard wax is much more comfortable and painless and is better for sensitive skin and those prone to ingrown hairs.

I am pregnant, can I still get waxed in my bikini area?

Yes, absolutely! Whether you are in the early stages of pregnancy or right at your due date, it is safe to wax during pregnancy. If you are in the first or second trimester of your pregnancy, please let your esthetician know so she can use products that do not contain any acids (glycolic, salicylic, etc.). Please also be aware that waxing during pregnancy can be more uncomfortable and painful. Taking a pregnancy-safe pain reliever one hour before waxing can help significantly. We also offer additional pillows for your comfort upon request.

I am on my period, can I still get waxed in my bikini area?

Yes, absolutely! If you are on your menstrual cycle, please use a tampon when coming in for your appointment. During your period and the days leading up to your period, waxing may feel more painful. If you are very sensitive to pain, please be sure to schedule your appointment accordingly.

What reaction will I have to Brazilian waxing?

Everyone reacts differently to Brazilian waxing. It is common for the area to be pink, tender, and bumpy for a couple of hours after your waxing appointment. For those who have sensitive skin, it can take up to 24-hours for the redness and tenderness to subside.

Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker and darker?

Contrary to popular waxing myth, hair does not grow back thicker and darker after being waxed. Waxing weakens hair follicles making hair grow back thinner and slower. Many clients will notice that after years of consistent waxing, hair in certain areas does not grow back at all.

How long will a Brazilian wax last?

Every person experiences a different hair growth rate, but a Brazilian wax typically lasts 3-4 weeks. You should experience 1-1.5 weeks of no growth, and 2-3 weeks of very little growth after that. Hair grows back very thin and sparse after waxing, unlike after shaving.

How often should I come in to get my bikini/Brazilian wax?

For best hair removal results, we suggest regular waxing. For each person, the time in between waxes may vary. Typically, scheduling your appointment for every 4-6 weeks is best.

What is the difference between a modest bikini line, extended bikini, and Brazilian wax?

The modest bikini line wax removes hair visible outside of a bathing suit or underwear. This service removes any hair on the upper inner thighs and hair from the top bikini line. The extended bikini wax removes more hair than the simple bikini line. This service removes hair from the sides of the bikini area and a thin line of hair from the labia. The majority of the hair on the labia will not be removed. The Brazilian wax includes everything from front to back. If you would like hair on the labia removed, it is considered a Brazilian regardless of what you leave on the front (ie. teeny, bohemian, martini, or landing strip).
